“A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone’s knowledge of himself and the world around him.” —
— Dylan Thomas

Change the shape of Universe

Poetry that cares  – Kolkata Poetry Confluence wants to be socially inclusive. We plan to hold Kotodama ( sound before poetry)  workshops with blind and deaf children. There is also a plan to hold verse poetry workshops with autistic children.

Aranjak Natyogoshthi works with autistic individuals and their families. Aranjak present them an avenue to express themselves through poetry and verse play which allow autistic individuals to celebrate their identity. Kolkata Poetry Confluence is delighted to have Aranjak present Tagore’s ‘The Child’ at the 2022 Confluence.

Iakro Valderama, our visiting poet from Columbia will also be holding Kotodama ( sounds before words) workshop with blind performers. We are delighted to have the 2022 Confluence inauguration with a Kotodama performance along with Anyodesh, a Kolkata group devoted to theater with blind performers in the city.
